The Madhya Pradesh police early on Tuesday shot dead outlaw Shivdayal in a village in Datia district. Shivdayal had more than a dozen cases of kidnappings and murders registered against him in Datia and Bhind districts, police said. Police sources said they had received information that Shivdayal was planning to kidnap someone in a village under Tharet Police Station and was hiding in the nearby jungles.

The police surrounded the area and both sides exchanged fire through Monday night. According to Datia SP M K Katakwar, Shivdayal’s body was found early on Tuesday morning. Two constables, Ajay Sharma and Kokasingh, were injured

during the encounter and are being treated at a local hospital. The police are looking for Shivdayal’s accomplices who managed to escape.

Last week, the police had shot an accomplice of dacoit Radhe Patel in the jungles of Rewa.
