MUMBAI, July 23: The Mumbai Port Trust (MPT) has turned down a proposal for setting up facilities in south Mumbai for `locating' the decommissioned aircraft carrier, `Vikrant' as well as providing terminal facilities for hovercraft services.Though the trustees, who met yesterday, welcomed the proposal of converting the first aircraft carrier into a maritime heritage museum, they felt that the south Mumbai site at Radio Club would only lead to further traffic congestion and pollution. According to labour leader, S R Kulkarni, president of port and dock workers federation, a study group would go into all aspects, including the congestion and pollution part, and report back to the board.
