
NASHIK, NOV 12: The Maharashtra State Electric Board (MSEB) needs Rs 1,30 00 to come out of its present economic crisis. The MSEB has taken stern measures to recover arrears from the customers to the tune of Rs. 4500 crore the State Energy Minister Dr Patmasinh Patil said here last night.
He further said that the condition of the MSEB was precarious and it has a shortfall of about 1,200 to 1800 mw power everyday. The board incurs a loss of about Rs 200 crore.

He said that barring the farmers who have has been severly hit by drought in Nashik division, all others would have to pay the arrears and the current dues regularly which would go a long way in sprucing the financial state of the board.
He further said that other losses in transmission would be reduced by building new stations of different capacities besides laying a large network of cables.
Electricity theft has always been a headache for MSEB. The department has decided to taking stringent action against errant customers. The department will also take stern action against the employees and officials found guilty of misconduct.
He said during the last two months the MSEB took action and suspended 17 employees including one superintendent engineer, one executive engineer, two assistant engineers and three junior engineers and others in Nashik division.
1,000 mw of power will be generated in Bhusaval power station, while the Parali and Paras power station will generate 250 mw of additional power for increased power capacity in the state.
Patil said following the power shortage the MSEB has resorted to loadsheding from November 9 in Nashik district for four hours everyday in urban areas since last week.
