VADODARA, Dec 1: The M S University (MSU) students and teachers aspiring to go abroad for further studies can rejoice. The University has proposed an exchange programme, scheduled to take off from next academic year. When undertaken, this would probably be the first such exchange programme in the state.
The exchange programme has a tie-up primarily with the University of Buffalo, New York. As per the programme, MSU students can go for further studies at the University of Buffalo, while students of the New York-based university will come to MSU for an academic year. The programme will select students mainly from third-year of Faculty of Technology and Engineering and final-year of other faculties.
Selection will be done on merit and students’ application. The number of students per faculty would be decided by MSU authorities and scholarship the students manage.
Vice-Chancellor of MSU Anil Kane said, “The number of students per faculty would be decided on the scholarship that they will be able to manage.” He added that it would be an advantage not only for the students but for teachers as well.
“Till date many faculty members and students were unable to get exposure to other universities. This programme will benefit both,” Kane said. The scholarship amount would be an advantage for the students coming from abroad but, keeping this in mind, MSU students would be provided with accommodation. They will also have facilities for food. Kane said if the present exchange programme takes off, there were proposals of tie-ups with other universities of Australia also.
