VADODARA, Feb 15: Students of the M S University will now not be the only proud possessors of the MSU T-shirts, designed by students of the Faculty of Home Science and Fine Arts as part of the Know Your University’ programme. Now, even those not associated with the university can own these T-shirts, as the university has decided to sell the designs to a city-based company for mass production in return of a royalty.
The university has also given the copyright to the factory owner to use the university’s golden jubilee logo and sell it according to its demand.
Talking to Express Newsline, M S University Vice-Chancellor Anil Kane said tenders were floated and the company that quoted the highest price was given the contract for mass production of the T-shirts.
Kane said the university did not have the funds nor the kind of machinery to manufacture these T-shirts on a large scale.
“Once the designs are sold to the company, it is not upto the university to bother how they were used”, the vice-chancellor said, adding, however that the company expected a good response because of the deep associations the university had with a large number of people.
All the T-shirts have the common logo of We & U/MSU’ imprinted on the university’s domes, while the designs in the front vary from the routes of the various faculties to waves of the sea.
Kane said everybody’s efforts had been recognised, as the students who had designed the T-shirts had been introduced to several industrialists and the T-shirts displayed through a fashion show.
