They are out of office but still avail facilities of ministers. The former ministers of the Mufti Mohammad Sayeed-led coalition government continue to get facilities they were entitled to during office.

Bunglaows which they were entitled to are retained by them. Likewise, they also use government vehicles. The Jammu and Kashmir Government, in a written reply to question of MLC NA Mir, today informed that most of the former ministers continued to get accommodation, transport and security.

Giving details about facilities which the ministers enjoyed, the J-K Government informed that seven of them retained one vehicle each. Similarly, 18 former ministers of the Mufti government retained one government vehicle. Elaborating the information tabled by the Jammu and Kashmir Government on the floor of the upper House points out that the government has not even withdrawn free accommodation to 27 ministers in Srinagar.

The government didn’t elaborate in the written reply to the question that what were the reasons for retaining the facilities of the former ministers? It only informed that the state government was in the process of reviewing the position.

Former Cabinet ministers who retain one vehicle belong to education, forest, health, housing, power, social welfare departments. The reply also notes that “a former youth minister retains a vehicle as well”.
