Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav today admitted there was gross misuse of funds in the legislators’ development schemes in the state.

Replying to a call attention notice of Congress member Pramod Tiwari, Yadav said he had information about misuse of funds at different levels.

However, he promised that the government would consider to hike the legislators’ development fund if the financial condition of the state improved. Tiwari, in his notice, had urged the CM to hike the fund from Rs 75 lakh to Rs one crore, and rename the fund as Assembly Area

Development Fund. Samajwadi Janata Party member Ramgovind Chaudhry said the legislators’ development fund should be abolished as its misuse was spoiling the reputation of MLAs.
