Fear over polluted air
Panic spread in the north-western suburbs on Friday following rumours about residents collapsing after vomiting due to polluted air which had spread in Andheri and Kandivli areas. Police sources said the main control room learnt about the rumour at 11.14 am and sent police parties to take stock of the situation. The police personnel also started giving instructions over the loudspeaker about the preventive measures to be taken.
Fire brigade personnel and scientific experts also rushed to the spots to investigate. But nothing of that sort had happened, police said.
HC order on loudspeakers
The division bench of Bombay High Court has directed that no permission for loudspeakers should be granted beyond 10 pm. Even where permissions have been granted up to 10 pm, the HC said, the users are expected to ensure the sound is kept at reasonably low-decibel.
