Justice A Y Sakhare, vacation judge of the Bombay high court, today appointed A K Menon as provisional administrator to take charge of the property, assets and books of accounts of the CRB mutual fund, its schemes, CRB Trustees Ltd, CRB Asset Management Co. Ltd and IIT Corporate Services Ltd.

Admitting a petition seeking ad interim relief by the SEBI before the vacation judge, Justice Sakhare asked Menon, who was the custodian in the multi-crore securities scam case, to act in accordance with the directions given from time to time by the high court.

DCP deposes in TADA court

Deposing before designated TADA court Judge P D Kode, deputy commissioner of police P K Jain on Tuesday said that he had recorded confessional statements of seven blasts accused who were in police custody those days. Replying to a question his examination-in-chief by special public prosecutor A B Belgal, Jain said that he had recorded these statements on the request of various police stations where the accused were kept in custody. The DCP also said that before that he had given enough time to the accused who voluntarily recorded their confessions giving details of the crime committed by them. Among the seven accused, Jain has also recorded the confessional statement of prime accused in the blasts case Hanif Kadawala who is a film producer by profession.
