MUMBAI, SEPT 18: The 31st Junior Women’s National Hockey Championship, sponsored by Bank of Baroda, will be held on league-cum-knockout basis at the Mahindra Stadium here from September 22-30.

One team from each pool would qualify for quarter-finals to be held on Sept 27. The semis will be held on Sept 29 and the final on Sept 30.

Pool A: Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Pepsu Pool B: Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Bihar Pool C: Punjab, Karnataka and Rajasthan Pool D: Delhi, Pondichery and Mahakoshal Pool E: Chandigarh, Kerala and Vidarbha Pool F: Mumbai, Gujarat and Jammu & Kashmir Pool G: Orissa, Andhra Pradesh and Mizoram Pool H: Manipur, Maharashtra and West Bengal

The MIG Cricket Club will conduct the Mumbai District Ranking table tennis tournament, under the auspices of the MSDTTA, at the MIG Cricket Club, Bandra (East) from September 20 to 23.

The tournament will be conducted in the following events: Men’s and women’s singles, junior boys and girls singles, sub-junior boysand girls singles, cadet boys and girls singles and midget boys and girls singles.

The entry forms may be collected and submitted at the office of the MIG Cricket Club between 11.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m. Entries close on Saturday, September 18.

Sportstar cricket

The following players have been selected to participate in the Sportstar Trophy cricket tournament, to be held in September and October. The competition will be the Selection trials for the Mumbai under-19 team:

HV Sarda and Jharna Badlani will represent India at the AMF Bowling World Cup in Las Vegas from Oct 3-9.

The two qualified by winning the men’s and women’s titles respetively in the final of the Bowling Masters on Friday. Sarda won with a scored of 7510 pins i 40 games (avge 188 per game) and Jharna topped with 2609 in 16 games (avge 163). The event was played over three rounds for a total of 40 gamesfor men and over two rounds for a total of 16 games for women.

Cycle rally today

The Amateur Cycling Association of Bombay Suburban District-conducted Cycle rally will be held on Sunday, September 19.

The TI Cycles of India-sponsored rally will start at 9.00 a.m. from Oberoi Towers, Nariman Point and finish at the Mafatlal swimming pool. There will be a lucky draw and three give away TI Cycles to the lucky winners.
