During the Latur Earthquake the JNA provided non-stop communication to the Government for over a fortnight. The recent cyclone in Orissa was yet another instance when the JNA Wireless Association were alerted to be on standby.

Scientist honoured
The Director General

of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research, New Delhi. Dr Raghunath A Mashelkar, will be honoured by the Chaturang Pratishthan, Mumbai as its “Person of Pride” for 1999. The honour will be conferred on Dr Mashelkar by Dr Anil Kakodkar on December 18 in the Chaturang’s Rangasammelan, at Raja Shivaji Vidyalaya, Dadar.
