Indian students for US engg fair

  • For the first time, students from India will be participating in an international science and engineering fair. The National Council of Science Museums is organising the fair across India, the winners of which will represent India in the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in USA in May this year. This contest is open to students throughout India between Std IX to XII. The first of the zonal fairs is being organised in Mumbai at Nehru Science Centre, Worli. It presents exhibits based on principles of computer science, physics, mathematics and engineering. ISEF, regarded as the world’s only international science fair representing all life sciences ranging from bio-chemistry to zoology, is organised and administered by Science Service, a non-profit organisation founded in Washington D C in 1921.
  • Coaching classes for rly exams

  • Yuvam is organising a free coaching camp for railway exams between January 24 and 31 for the forthcomingrailway exams for ticket collectors, commercial clerks and assistant station master.   • Varsity’s social awareness cell

  • The University of Mumbai has set up a social awareness cell to create awareness on key social issues. The cell will organise a workshop on Social Workers and Police Equation in Gender-related Issues’ on January 11 at Fort. Union Urban Development Minister Ram Jethmalani will be the chief guest.
  • Andhra Parishad to hold function

  • The Andhra Saraswat Parishad will celebrate its golden jubilee on January 10 at the Bhavan Bag, Shankar Rao Pupalla Marg, sixth lane crossing, Kamatipura. The function, which will include dramas, felicitations and a mimicry show by Johnny Lever, will be graced by luminaries like P V Narasimha Rao, Krishna Kant, C M Balayogi, P C Alexander, Chief Minister Manohar Joshi and ChandrababuNaidu.
  • YMCA’s aquatic mgmt courses

  • Courses in advanced aquatic management like training for swimming instructors, life guards and pool management will start from January 15. The courses will be held at the Bombay Young Men’s Christian Association’s branch at CBD Belapur. For details, call on 7572241/2930.
