
NSUI members hold dharna
Members of the National Students’ Union of India held a demonstration at the University of Mumbai’s Fort campus today, protesting Vice-Chancellor Dr Snehalata Deshmukh’s move to grant eight extra marks to all final year MBBS students in the Preventive and Social Medicine paper. The union submitted a memorandum to the Vice-Chancellor, stating that the unfair’ results should be declared null and void and that the names of the privileged students’, for whom the extra marks were awarded be made public. The Vice-Chancellor has said she would reply to the union’s memorandum, Rahul Khedakar, NSUI president, said.
Chaurasia’s show at JJ
Kaladeep, a cultural organisation representing students in the J J School of Arts, will hold a cultural festival as part of its annual social and college festival from February 18. As part of the festival, flautist Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia will perform in the college on February 20 between 7 and 10 pm.
Balmahotsav at GrantRoad
A three-day inter-school contest Balmahotsav-99′ will be held by the Balsankar Kendra of Swami Prempuri Ashram Trust at its Grant Road premises from Thursday. Around 500 schools are expected to participate in various events including music, dance, painting, theatre, quizzes, reading and writing. Noted Gujarati poet Suresh Dalal will inaugurate the programme.
