
Science workshop at TIFR
The Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, has organised a five-day workshop on the history of science, titled Implications for Science Education. The workshop, which was inaugurated by Dr Virendra Singh, Professor of Eminence, TIFR, on February 22, will discuss the role of the history of science in formulating science and mathematics curricula in the country.
The workshop aims at discussing ways of inculcating a developmental and global view of science among students by stressing the historical context of its growth and its multi-cultural origins. The workshop will be attended by about 100 participants, including leading experts on the subject from within the country and abroad. For more information, call on 5554712/5242.
Books on science subjectsMountaineering to Nepal
Saad Mountaineers, affiliated to the Indian Mountaineering Foundation, New Delhi, has organised a trekking expedition to Thorangla Pass in Nepal from April 29 to May 24. Course in Income Tax
The Bombay Adult Education Association will start a course in Income Tax which will be conducted by Prof A D Dave every Thursday at 6 pm. Cookery book in Braille
Rasaranjana, a cookery book in Braille in Marathi written by Tarla Dalal will be released on February 27 at 4 pm at the Kamla Mehta Dadar School for the Blind. Over 60 dishes collected from over hundred recipies contributed by visually impaired girls were selected for the book after they were prepared by the girls at the National Association for the Blind.
Meet on civic councils
The All India Institute of Local Self Government, in co-operation with Maharashtra Nagarparishad Mahasangh, has arranged a conference for presidents of municipal councils on February 28 at Ambernath. The meet will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Narayan Rane. The conference will discuss the extension of the President’s term of office from one year to two-and-a-half years.
Nature camp to Khandala
