I-T warning on tax arrears The Income Tax department has warned Central government offices about defaulting on taxing arrears. Following the acceptance of Fifth Pay Commission recommendations, Central government employees are eligible to receive arrears. However, an I-T press release stated, a number of DDOs had not deducted the full quantum of tax liability on these arrears. Some offices had either deferred payment to subsequent months or had taking into account projected tax savings investments and not the actual investment. All such cases are liable for penal consequences, the I-T warned. However, the trains will start from CST terminus."Clarify Rent Act" The federation of associations, an apex body representing chambers of trade, transport and small scale industries, has warned the state government of an agitation if it did not clarify on the standard rent and other proposed amendments to the Rent Control Act. The decision follows meetings held by the association last Thursday and a meeting of the organisers on Friday where an action committee for protection of tenants rights was formed.
