5 per cent water cut

On account of repair works at Panjrapure Treatment Plant on March 24, there will be a 5 per cent reduction in water supply to the city. Pressure of water will be lower than normal and supply hours will be suitably adjusted, a civic press-note said.

Scholarships for mountaineers

The Arora-Prabhu Memorial committee has announced six scholarships of Rs 1,000 each and three scholarships of Rs 500 each for mountaineers. One in each category is reserved for women and one in the Rs 500 category for a poor deserving hiker for the purchase of equipment or for pursuing a course in mountaineering. Those who have done a course in mountaineering between January and December 1997 are eligible. Applications should reach the committee on or before March 31. For details, contact 6145199.

BCL family membership

The British Council Library is introducing family membership from April 1 for Rs 1,500. The membership entitles the family to four books, two backissues or periodicals and two home video cassettes.

WR holiday special train

Western Railway will run a holiday special train between Mumbai Central and Ahmedabad on April 9. The 14-coach train will leave Mumbai Central at 11 pm. Reservations will commence from March.
