Teachers’ dharna postponed

The All India Federation of University and College Teachers’ Organisation (AIFUCTO) has postponed its proposed dharna on April 16 to demand a pay revision for teachers throughout the country. This decision follows a meting with Union Minister for Human Development, Murli Manohar Joshi, on April 8, where the minister reportedly promised to issue the necessary orders by the month-end.

Somaiya engineers’ alumni

The Association of Somaiya Engineers Alumni (ASEA) will be inaugurated on Wednesday, April 29, at 6 pm at Vidyavihar. Minister for Industries and Law, Leeladhar Dake, will be the chief guest. This is to be followed by a fellowship-cum-dinner for alumni and their spouses. Entry is by invitation only. While association members will be sent invitation cards, new members can register on the spot at 5.30 pm at a fee of Rs 500. Bank union protests RBI directive

The BankEmployees Federation of India has expressed its resentment and protest against the communiques issued by Reserve Bank of India and the Indian Banks Association stating that bank offices will remain open for the full day on Saturday, April 11 and Sunday, April 12. The union said this move deprives employees of their weekly offs as are provided in their service conditions. The BEFI has demanded that the notification be immediately revoked.
