Teachers' dharna postponedThe All India Federation of University and College Teachers' Organisation (AIFUCTO) has postponed its proposed dharna on April 16 to demand a pay revision for teachers throughout the country. This decision follows a meting with Union Minister for Human Development, Murli Manohar Joshi, on April 8, where the minister reportedly promised to issue the necessary orders by the month-end.Somaiya engineers' alumniThe Association of Somaiya Engineers Alumni (ASEA) will be inaugurated on Wednesday, April 29, at 6 pm at Vidyavihar. Minister for Industries and Law, Leeladhar Dake, will be the chief guest. This is to be followed by a fellowship-cum-dinner for alumni and their spouses. Entry is by invitation only. The union said this move deprives employees of their weekly offs as are provided in their service conditions. The BEFI has demanded that the notification be immediately revoked.
