WR’s holiday specials

The Western Railway will run an AC holiday special train for Gujarat and Rajasthan bound passengers from Mumbai Central. The 965 DN train will leave Mumbai Central for Jaipur on April 17 at 11 pm. It will leave Jaipur on April 20 at 9.05 am. Reservations can be done from any of the computerised counters.

"Table Srikrishna panel report"

Muslim organisations in the city will state a dharna to in front of Parliament to demand the tabling of the Srikrishna commission report by the state government before April 20.

This decision was taken in a meeting held recently, attended by the Mumbai Aman Committee, All India Jameeyat Ulema, All India Zamat-ul-Kuraish, Agripada Relief Committee and other groups.

CITU protests Nashik unrest

The state council of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) has condemned the atrocities perpetrated against trade union workers in Nashik by employers allegedly in collusion with the local police. In a statement issued, the councilsaid it would also seek clarification on a one-sided statement issued by Deputy Chief Minister Gopinath Munde after he visited Nashik.

Summer camp for children

`Enduring Image’ quiz contest n A general knowledge quiz contest will be held at the British Council auditorium as part of the `Enduring Image’ exhibition on April 25 at 3 pm. Cash prizes of Rs 10,000 for the winning team, and Rs 5,000 and Rs 2,500 for the runner up and second runner-up will be awarded. The contest will be conducted by business journalist Vikram Doctor. Media portrayal oftribals

A seminar on `Media’s Perceptions of the Tribes’ will be held on April 21 at the Xavier’s Institute of Communication’s mini-theatre between 2 and 4 pm. The media’s perception and projection of tribals, particularly in the light of the 74th constitutional amendment on tribal self rule, will be debated.

The panelists include award winning writer on tribal culture Ganesh Devy, poet Dilip Chitre, tribal activist Laxman Gaikwad and Prabhakar Khole, editor of Sakal, Pune.

WR’s Nostalgia photo exhibition

The Western Railway has organised Nostalgia, an exhibition of old file photographs at headquarters at Churchgate. The photographs trace the development of the Western and Central Railways since their inception in 1853. The exhibition is open to the public between 10 am and 7 pm till April 19.

WWF nature camp at Amboli
