
MUMBAI, November 25: The Sisters of Ajmer have organised Adesh Shrivastava Musical Night’ on November 29 at 6.45 pm at Mary Immaculate Girl’s High School grounds, Borivli (w). The event plans to raise resources for the expansion of the Karuna Hospital into a 100-bed general charitable hospital. The hospital will focus on preventive therapy and have special schemes for education of slum women on general hygiene and preventive medicines. Entry passes are available at Vikasinin Institute, Jeevan Bima Nagar and Mary Immaculate Girl’s School.
Seminar
A seminar on Work and Workers in Mumbai: 1930s to 90s’ will be held at the Durbar Hall, Asiatic Society, between November 27 and 29. The seminar will focus on issues like changing trends in the workforce, the relevance of trade unionism today, the textile industry, women workers, and urban land and workers’ rights. The seminar will begin at 9.30 am everyday.
Red Cross week
The Indian Red Cross Society will observe Red Cross Flag week from November 27 to December 4 to raise funds for its activities. Some of the activities include the upgradation of its blood centre, a Bel-Air TB sanatorium in Panchgani, a Primary Health Centre at Yenegur in Osmanabad district, disaster relief and junior red cross and youth development.

The Leslie Sawhney Programme of Training for Democracy is organising a seminar on The Indian Dream of 1947 – What went wrong? ‘ on Saturday, November 29 at the Taj Mahal Hotel, Mumbai. Arun Shourie will initiate the discussion.
