NOVEMBER 18: Rakesh Dhruv left Mumbai in tatters at the Brabourne Stadium this morning. The young left-arm spinner claimed seven wickets to send Mumbai hurtling to an innings and 11 run defeat on the concluding day of the West Zone Cooch-Behar Trophy league match. If Dhruv’s spell formed the high point in the match, Mumbai’s batting hit the pits as they caved in without a fight for the second time in the match. He had impressive match figures of 12-84.

Resuming at their overnight score of 12-2, Mumbai were bowled out for 156, which was marginally better that the first innings score of 129. Saurashtra had made 296 in their first essay.

Barring opener Vijay Singh (74: 86b, 106m, 9×4, 1×6) none of the other batsmen could come to terms with Dhruv’s bowling.

With this victory, Saurashtra join Gujarat to make the knock-out grade. Both teams finished with 21 points each.
