MUMBAI: The Bharathi Educational and Cultural Association, Malwani, has objected to the Mumbai-Nagercoil-Mumbai Express departing/arriving from Kurla Terminus instead of Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus from August 1.

According to the body, Kurla terminus is inconvienient as travellers residing in the Western Suburbs will have to change trains at Dadar for Kurla and yet again at Kurla for Tilak Nagar from where Kurla terminus is a walking distance of ten metres. This inconveniences passengers residing in areas like Malad and Borivli especially when the train arriving at Mumbai scheduled for 11 pm is delayed by two hours, the association said in a communication to the chairman railway board.

Indian Express staffer retires

MUMBAI: Abraham Stephen, senior shift-in-charge in the proof reading department of The Indian Express retired on Saturday after more than 32 years of service. Stephen joined the paper as a copy-holder in 1964 and rose to the present post. His colleagues accorded him a warm farewell.

Hindi stenography exam from July 24

BMC notice for claiming dead bodies

MUMBAI: Four male patients, Prakash, 35, Chikku, 38, Suresh Jivram Jadhav, 45 and Babu Chane, 60 and a female patient, Mumtaz Hanif Mohammed, 26, admitted to the Sewree TB Hospital expired recently. Though death intimation cards were sent to the addresses of the deceased, no one turned up to collect the bodies. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has informed that the bodies be claimed immediately or else they will be sent to the coroner for disposal.
