In the backdrop of denial by Jharkhand’s top officials that the government had received offer for talks from any banned extremist outfit, Chief Minister Arjun Munda on Sunday said he had indeed got indication in that regard.
‘‘But I will explain only at the right time,’’ Munda replied when asked by reporters to confirm whether he had received any such message as a couple of senior officials have denied having received any information.
Asked to clarify the contrary statements made by the political leadership and the bureaucracy on the peace offer made by the People’s War Group last week, the CM said in a democratic system the legislature is a body of people’s representatives who take decision in the interest of the common man.
Of course, he said, the bureaucratic administrators have their share of work, but with ‘‘some limit’’.
The statements of a couple of senior officials were contrary to that of the Chief Minister’s claim of getting indication for peace talks last week.
Munda, however, made it clear that things would not help if on the one hand they (extremists) indulge in violence and offer talks on the other. ‘‘In principle, we should agree first and then we can proceed,’’ he said.
