Making a climbdown from his hitherto belligerent stand, Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) chief K. Muraleedharan today said that if Chief Minister A.K. Antony puts forward a formula or calls for a discussion to end the crisis plaguing the Kerala Congress, he will extend all cooperation.

‘‘The problem has to be solved by the high command or the Chief Minister should take the initiative to find a solution,’’ Muraleedharan told mediapersons after reviewing the preparations for the November 19 rally being organised by Karunakaran loyalists.

Toning down the political significance of the rally, he said: ‘‘The rally is being organised as part of the birth anniversary of late Indira Gandhi. Nothing more is to be attributed to it,’’ he said, adding that he can’t set November 19 as the cut-off date for solving party crisis. However, the KPCC president warned the high command that the situation may go out of hand if the crisis prolongs. And the worst may happen even before December 1, the deadline set by the high command for its intervention in the crisis, he added. The KPCC chief though said that he still had faith in the party high command, however, alleged that she was being ‘‘misled by some Delhi-based Kerala leaders’’.
