BANGALORE, JAN 18: A ghastly sight greeted ITI students on Sunday morning: They found the severed head of a man inside their hostel compound.

The RMC Yard police who rushed to the ITI training institute in Goreguntapalya at 7.30 am, fished out the torso sans arms and legs from a drain. The police also collected the left hand and right leg lying inside the Institute, near Modern Bakery factory. The other parts of the body, including a left leg and right hand, are missing, police added.

According to preliminary investigation, the deceased has been identified as Gangarangaiah (50), residing in Kamala Nagar.

Police said Gangarangaiah, who had married for a second time, did not have cordial relations with his first wife. He was also involved in a legal battle over the ownership of a site. In the last two days he had not reported for duty.

The police suspect that the watchman was murdered in a place not far from the area where the severed head, limbs and torso were found on Sunday.

The body has been sentfor post-mortem.
