Kishen Mulchandani has had the same den for eight years. His restaurant, Palkhi, in Colaba has been his favourite room since it first opened its doors. He describes his restaurant as "my den and playroom".

And the earthy interiors that he loves so much can be credited to Parmeshwar Godrej — who he describes as his inspiration. "I was enamoured by her glitz and glamour and called her up to do my interiors. She is truly one of a kind and very professional," he says. Kishen, who is now in his late 30s, entered the restaurant business because for him an industry that is driven by meeting people is not about hard work, just pure fun.

But food is an important part of running a restaurant and Kishen decided to go with Nouvelle Indian. Says he, "I make sure that the dishes are not heavy and full of oil." He also makes sure that Palkhi is always in the news. "I like to put together parties. In fact, I was one of the first people to start renting my restaurant out for private parties," says he.

And if Kishen isnot throwing a party at Palkhi, then he is partying at one of the "happening night spots" in the city. Pick up any newspaper and Kishen’s name will pop up as the Pasha of Party-makers — a reputation he parties hard to live up to.
