MUMBAI, October 22: The crime branch today summoned film producer Sajid Nadiadwala and financer Yusuf Lakdawala in connection with the Gulshan Kumar murder case. The duo presented themselves at the crime branch cell at 2 pm and were interrogated by the Assistant Commissioner of Police L R Rao. Nadiadwala and Lakdawala have been summoned again tomorrow for interrogations by the Joint Commissioner of Police (crime) Ranjit Singh Sharma. According to sources, Nadiadwala is being tipped as one of the ``three big fishes'' referred to by Bal Thackeray.Sharma confirmed that the two men were summoned on certain issues relating to the musical bash at Dubai hosted by underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and his cronies. He, however refused to admit if the duo had attented the function on June 12 at all.``No arrests will be made today. The two film personalities have been summoned only regarding certain facts related to Gulshan Kumar's murder,'' said Sharma.ACP Rao added that they were called upon for inquiries about their frequent trips to Dubai. Nadiadwala had made over three trips to the Emirates' capital in recent months. The crime branch is also investigating Nadiadwala's underworld links. The investigators are intrigued by the re-dubbing of all the songs sung by Alka Yagnik by Anuradha Paudwal. The industry is irked by the fact that the late Gulshan Kumar promoted Paudwal unabashedly. The police are now trying to catalogue the names of those who resented Kumar. Boney Kapoor was one of those producers who had to dub Yagnik's songs by Paudwal in his forthcoming film, Pukar, only because Gulshan Kumar wanted it that way.Earlier, the crime branch had grilled Shravan of the Nadeem-Shravan fame in connection with the murder. The others questioned in this regard were Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aditya Panscholi, Boney Kapoor, Chunkey Pandey and his brother, Pehlaj Nahalani, Pooja Bhatt, Atul Agnihotri, Jackie Shroff, Deepti Bhatnagar and a few others. All this comes at a time when Sharma is preparing for Nadeem's deportation from Great Britain, where he has surrendered before the authorities. Sharma is expected to leave for the UK on October 28, as the case is up for hearing on November 3. Sajid Nadiadwala has produced films like Judwa, Jeet, Zulm Ki Hukumat, Andolan and Waqt Hama Hai. Lakdawala is a known financer.Meanwhile, producer-director Yash Chopra today approached police to seek protection for his latest venture, Dil to Pagal Hai from being pirated on video. Chorpa met the Commissioner R H Mendonca is this regard.
