PANCHKULA, Jan 25: Registration of land in the name of the tiller in Morni and surrounding areas as well as action on schemes floated by the Shivalik Board was demanded by the BSP MP from Ambala, A.K. Nagra. Nagra told ENS that presently Morni was the only area in the country where persons cultivating the land did not own it. He said Ghaggar project, which envisions damming the Ghaggar River, should be implemented to solve water and power problem in the state to a considerable extent.

Nagra said a Rs 32 crore project to construct 25 unpaved canals in the state for irrigation was earlier proposed, but no action had been taken so far.

He said that several welfare projects in the Ambala constituency, for which about Rs 50 lakhs had been sanctioned, were yet to take off.

Commenting on corruption, Nagra demanded that investigations should be made into the assets of all politicians to determine their sources. The local BSP workers held a demonstration outside the office of the Panchkula Deputy Commissioner and submitted a memorandum of their demands.
