Notwithstanding exit polls giving an edge to the Congress, caretaker CM N. Chandrababu Naidu today claimed that the TDP would return to power in the state and the NDA at the Centre.‘‘I am cent per cent confident that we are forming the government in Andhra Pradesh. I cannot go by the exit polls which predicted our defeat, as the outcome of ‘exact polls’ will be different,’’ he said at a press conference.Naidu added that Congress leaders who were upbeat over the exit polls were bound to be disappointed on May 11 (the day of counting). Asked how exit polls by three TV channels could be so wide off the mark, he said: ‘‘Their exit polls may be genuine, but my observation is that their sample may not be accurate. They seem to have not taken into account the overwhelming backing of women to the TDP.’’The CM was also confident of the Vajpayee Government’s comeback to power.
