CHANDIGARH, Nov 30: Some of the top shooters including Jaspal Rana, Ashok Pandit and Ved prakash in the men’s section and Roopa Unnikrishnan, Anjali Ved Pathak and Suma Dixit in the women’s group will be seen in action in the 43rd National Shooting Championships Competitions (NSCC) to be held at Phillaur from December 5 to 14, under the aegis of Ranjit Garh Rifle Club in coordination with the Punjab Police Academy and Punjab Rifle Shooting Association (PRSA). The competition will be conducted in rifle and pistol events according to International Sports Shooters Federation (ISSF) rules.
According to the new format, the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) has decided to conducted National Rules (NR) and ISSF events separately.
Earlier this year the NR events were held during the IX All India GV Mavlankar National shooting championship held at Ahmedabad.
During the meet shooters who had attained a minimum qualifying standard of 90 percent in the senior and 80 percent in junior category have been termed eligible to compete in the forthcoming meet.
Meanwhile, a 29-member Punjab team including 24 in the men is expected to represent the state.
Abhinav Bindra and Jaspreet Dhaliwal, who represented India in the last SAF Games held at Kathmandu, are also in the squad.
