PASSENGERS and crew of Air Sahara Flight SA-308 and Kanchi seer Jayendra Saraswati and his entourage had a miraculous escape today when a major collision was averted on the ground at the Chennai airport.

The aircraft that had just landed was about to run into a convoy of two vehicles, carrying the Kanchi seer, when the pilot noticed them and brought the plane to a halt. The incident occurred at 2.52 pm. According to sources, the seer was headed for a private aircraft, on his way to Coimbatore, and his convoy hadn’t got the required permission from Air Traffic Control (ATC) to proceed on to the runway.

The pilot has filed an FIR with the ATC demanding that the airport take serious note of this issue, sources said.
