CHENNAI, July 3: The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum (South) has ordered NEPC Airlines and SITA World Travel Pvt Ltd to pay a compensation of Rs 10,000 as compensation to A M Vincent, a senior executive in a multi-national company, for mental agony and Rs 500 as costs for issue of a flight ticket, which was not scheduled. Vincent had booked a ticket through SITA World Travel for a NEPC flight from Calcutta to Chennai from where he had to go to Pondicherry. On the particular day when he came to airport, he found that the boarding counters of the NEPC were closed as no flight was being operated on that day. After having stayed in the airport for about 8 hours, he took another airline to reach Chennai as a result of which he could not reach Pondicherry on time. He therefore had claimed a compensation of Rs 50,000.
