The Justice M.K. Mukherjee Commission investigating the disappearance of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose has received a report about the DNA test on the teeth of Gumnami Baba, believed by many to be Netaji, but refused to disclose the findings as it wanted to get the test done by another expert.

‘‘We received the DNA test report last week. But the Commission does not deem it prudent to disclose the reports now, as the question of obtaining DNA test report of another suitable DNA expert is under active consideration,’’ Justice Mukherjee said after a hearing here today. The teeth of baba, obtained from his Faizabad residence, and blood samples of three descendants of Netaji were sent for DNA test to Hyderabad. The Commission, he said, could now get the test done again in Kolkata.

About feasibility of DNA test on alleged remains of Netaji kept at the Rankoji temple in Japan, he said, the Commission had received the only ‘‘positive response’’ in this regard from Terry Milton of the US. ‘‘But there is a precondition stipulated by him…He has categorically written that the anthropological evaluation of the remains, including photographs, should be forwarded prior to the proceedings,’’ Justice Mukherjee said.
