NEW DELHI, JUNE 30: While a minor reshuffle of secretary-level posts was announced today, a larger reshuffle involving at least six secretaries is expected within 10 days. Cabinet Secretary Prabhat Kumar has been asked by the Prime Minister to prepare a list of secretaries who are to be shifted along with their new portfolios.
Today’s reshuffle involves appointing of new secretaries for the power ministry as well as for the expenditure department in the ministry of finance. The 1965 IAS batch power secretary E A S Sarma has been appointed expenditure secretary while V K Pandit, of the Madhya Pradesh batch, who is currently an advisor in the Planning Commission has been appointed in Sarma’s place.
While Government is in favour of making a larger change, today’s appointments had to be made as the current expenditure secretary C Ramachandran is relinquishing charge at the weekend and is leaving to become an executive director on the board of the Asian Development Bank for three years.
