BANGALORE, January 18: Helping Hand, a non-profit organisation, has started a `Helpline’ scheme for the benefit of road accident victims. It has launched a `Helpcard’ which will facilitate emergency relief. Under the scheme, the organisation, started 15 years ago to provide succor to those in emotional distriss, will act as guarantor for payment of medical expenses of those who are injured in road accidents. The `Helpcards’ are issued in collaboration with the National Insurance Company, and attract a membership fee of Rs 150 plus Rs 100 for admission. The cards are valid for a year. The Helpcard will cover all accidents, including snakebites. Suicides, however, will not come under its purview.
