INTUC flays UT Admn
The local unit of the Indian National Trade Union Council at its meeting today criticised the Chandigarh Administration for its undue delay in implementing the Pay Commission Report for the work-charged employees. The general secretary of the Council threatened that in case the report was not implemented before May 1, the council would be forced to launch an agitation in this regard.

HSEB staff dharna enters 131st day
The dharna and chain hunger strike by Haryana Electricity Board Terminated Employees Sangarsh Morcha in Sector 17-C, entered its 131st and 129th day today, respectively. An executive member of Morcha requested Haryana Chief Minister Bansi Lal to accept the genuine demands of the striking employees and save the situation from worsening.

Rally in Sanjay Colony
The Chandigarh Janhit Sangharsh Morcha today organised a cultural programme followed by a public rally in Sanjay Colony, Industrial Area, Phase-I, to highlight the problems being faced by the residents. Expressing dismay over the poor sanitary conditions prevailing in the area, the joint secretary of local unit of All India Congress Committee assured that the problems would be discussed with Chandigarh Administration soon.

NIIFT hunger strike to continue
The chain hunger strike launched by the first, second and third year students of Northern India Institute of Fashion Technology entered fourth day today. Kushal and Ashish today sat on the hunger strike.

Urgent meeting of SAD today
An urgent meeting of the 11-member committee of Chandigarh unit of Shiromani Akali Dal has been called for tomorrow. According to a press statement issued by Surinder Singh Chinna, member secretary, the agenda for the meeting includes issues concerned with the prestige of the post of deputy mayor, implementation of Punjabi and territorial disputes.

NSUI demands grace marks
NSUI has demanded that students of B Com (II) be granted grace marks in lieu of the fact that one of the question papers contained questions which were out of syllabus. In a press statement, the president of the campus unit of NSUI, Avnish Mittal, said that PU should initiate immediate steps to remedy the situation.
