An anti-tobacco group has decided to move High Court against the lower court’s order which cleared superstar Amitabh Bachchan of the charge of violating anti-smoking law.

“We will challenge the lower court order in the High Court and will even go to the Supreme Court, National Organisation for Tobacco Eradication (NOTE) General Secretary Shekhar Salkar said on Tuesday.

The district and sessions court had last week nullified the proceedings against Bachchan initiated by judicial magistrate first class (JMFC) in the case filed by NOTE.

The NOTE had taken exception to a billboard near Mumbai-Goa highway showing the megastar smoking. The advertisement endorsed Anchor electric appliances.

The organisation had filed the petition to prosecute Bachchan for violation of Cigarettes and Tobacco and other Tobacco Products Act 2003 and the Goa Prohibition of Smoking and Spitting Act, 1997.
