Two days after the president of a pharmaceutical company went missing near Gwalior, the Madhya Pradesh police are still searching for clues because no one has made a ransom call as yet.

Nicholas Piramal India president (manufacturing) Ashwani Bhat was on his way to Indore on Friday afternoon from Gwalior after attending MP Exportech fair in a private taxi. His lives in Indore and commutes to Pithampur, where the company is located. The police believe it could be a case of kidnapping but in the absence of a ransom call they are investigating other possible angles. The car was found in Dholpur

in Rajasthan and had bloodstains indicating that there could have been a fight. Taxi driver Babulal Patel is also missing.

Indore DIG Madhu Kumar told The Indian Express that Bhat had hired the car in the past too and personally knew the driver. Cellphones of Bhat and Patel were not reachable when the families tried to contact them after they did not reach Indore till late on Friday.

The fair ended on Thursday and Bhat left for home around noon the next day telling his family members that he would home for dinner.

Gwalior (DIG) Adarsh Katiar said there was little progress in the case because ransom call had not been made. He said it was too early to presume if it was the handiwork of a dacoit gang active in the Chambal region.
