Mumbai, October 2: Nikhil Seth just about beat Jay Bhagat 7-9 3-9 10-8 9-5 10-8 in an absorbing and lively boys under-13 quarter-final duel of the Indian Junior Open Squash Tournament, sponsored by Rabo India Finance, at the Willingdon Gymkhana, on Monday. In another interesting tussle, Rhea Bhandare edged-out Rachita Vora 2-9 9-10 9-6 9-7 9-2 in the girls under-17 quarter-final encounter.

St Lawrence in final
ST LAWRENCE (Borivli) beat Holy Family `B’ (Andheri) through a goal by Aasim Kazi in an under-12 semi-final encounter of the MSSA-Colgate Inter-School Football Tournament at the MSSA-Castrol Schools Sports Centre, Azad Maidan, on Monday. In another match of the same competition, St Pius (Mulund) also made the final grade when they beat Don Bosco `B’ (Borivli) 1-0 through a goal by Mikhail Menezes.

Lotlikar nets winner
CENTRAL Railway defeated Western Railway by a solitary goal in the Mumbai District Football Association Harwood Super League at the Cooperage, on Monday. The all-important goal was scored in the dying minutes by Amir Lotlikar following a cross by Dauzy Godinho.

Easy for Dena Bank
DENA Bank trounced Bosco Strikers 6-1 in a Division I-A tie of the Mumbai District Football Association League at the St Xavier’s ground, Parel, on Monday.

Francis Pereira (2), Aldrin Lobo (2), Ammar Ansari and Yakoob Ansari scored for the bankmen. Rehman S pulled a goal back for Bosco Strikers.

In the Division I-B tie, Companeroes routed BPT Reynolds 3-0. Vasant Tendurkar, Kayzin D’Souza and John Pinto scored in that order for the winners.

Podar claim title
PODAR dethroned holders Ruparel by eight wickets in the final of the CK Nayudu (Under-19) Cricket Tournament at the Oval Maidan. Shardashram beat IES VN Sule by six wickets to emerge supreme in the boys under-14 section.Brief scores: Ruparel 139 (Sushil Tulaskar 31; Pralhad 3-25) lost to Podar 140-2 (Paul Vanthalty 62, Swapnaj Thakur 82).

NARASIMHAN Keshavan, the top seed, had things his own way when defeating Hryday Chheda 9-0 in the boys under-14 first-round tie of the Hero Honda MSLTA Circuit Open Junior State Ranking Tennis Tournament at the CCI, on Monday.
