AHMEDNAGAR, Jan 20: Former MLA and civic chief Srikrishna Nisal died of old age here yesterday morning. He was 86. He is survived by wife Sheelavati, sons Jayant and Dilip, two daughters and their families.Known as the doctor of the poor, the former civic chief of Ahmednagar was associated with several social, educational and medical institutions. He also was the chairman of the Ahmednagar Urban Bank from 1957 to 62.He was elected to the State Assembly from Ahmednagar in 1972 and taken lead in laying foundation for the Nagar MIDC. He also was instrumental in commissioning the Mula water supply scheme.Several citizens, political activists and office-bearers of several local organisations and institutions paid the last respects to Dr Nisal at Amardham crematory.
