YEREVAN (ARMENIA), SEPT 26: Nisha Mohota of India outwitted American Jennifer Shahade to earn full point and leapfrog to fourth place, while junior National champion Sundararajan Kidambi opted for a draw after two straight wins, in the 8th round of World Junior Chess Championships here.IWM Mohota (5) chose Caro-Kann defence and got initiative in the opening itself.

The Indian played tactically and gained a pawn early on. But Mohota faltered when she missed an opportunity to win a piece and had to struggle and force the win — an opposite bishop colour ending.

After two successive wins, Kidambi’s (4.5) run was halted in the seventh round when he drew his game with Vuckovic Bojan of Yugoslavia.
