NOVEMBER 16: Nitesh Bhat of Manjunath Vidyalaya (Dombivli) won the boys under-8 title of the Bournvita Inter-School chess tournament, organised by the Kalina Recreation and Sports Club and the Bombay Chess Association at the Vile Parle Prabodhankar Thackeray Krida Sankul, today.
Sameer Thakkar crowned himself as the boys under-12 champion when he finished the final round as a clear leader with 9.5 points. Earlier in the competition, his sister had won the under-12 girls title to make it a memorable day for the Thakkar family.
