Railway Minister Nitish Kumar will contest from Nalanda and Barh in Bihar. The announcement was made by JD(U) parliamentary board chairman Sharad Yadav on Saturday. Kumar decided to contest from both seats, wary of his prospects in Barh, from where he had won by a narrow margin in 1999. But Yadav said, ‘‘Nitish didn’t want it but it’s the party’s order.’’ Nalanda, with a huge number of Kurmi voters, was considered a safer bet than Barh.
