The general body had plunged into a pandemonium following Sawant’s behaviour and Mayor Chandu Rane was slapped. The faction owing allegiance to Thane guardian minister Ganesh Naik conducted a parallel session after the presiding officer abruptly adjourned the session on that day.

The House assembled

today for an adjourned session and conduct fresh polls for the transport committee. After a prolonged debate, the Mayor announced Sawant’s suspension for a fortnight. In today’s election, the Naik faction accommodated one candidate from the Dande group and six members were declared elected unopposed to the transport committee.
