NOVEMBER 30: Nagpada Neighbourhood House (NNH) dethroned Bobay YMCA 70-49, in a tension filled mini boys final of the Xth Bombay YMCA Open basketball championship being played at YMCA, Pant Nagar, today.

Javed Shaikh with 20 points emergede as the top scorer for the winners. Imtiaz Shaikh (12), Mazar Khan (10) and Shaikh Akhtar (10) were the other scorers for NNH.

For the YMCA team, Mohammad Rais (14) and Mohammad Faizal (10) were among the top scorers.

The match was played at break-neck

speed with both teams trying to undo each other resulting in a lot of foul calls by the referees. The match saw some high tension with YMCA Assistant Coach Syed Rasool abusing referee Anand Phadke over his foul calls. The referee had a hard time with each of his call being questioned by the teams. Three players from both the teams were called out with five fouls. Shaikh Amjad of Bombay YMCA was disqualified for hitting Shibaz Shaikh of NNH who was also disqualified for retaliating.

The mini-girls final was a no mess affair with holders Agradneya Vyayamshala beating Father Agnel 60-32 (half-time 33-16). For the winers Priyadarshini Patil (14), Rucha Marathe (8), Priya Chavan (8) were the top scorers.

Mithila Handu (9) and Archana Kandpile (7) exceled for Fr Agnel.
