PUNE, Jan 7: No changes have been made so far in the schedule of higher secondary examination in the State despite the absence of any compromise between the State government and the agitating junior college teachers unions, even as the strike entered its 28th day yesterday.

When contacted R S Bahekar, secretary, Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Board said that the Board was in constant touch with the government over the issue and declined to comment on the possibility of any change in schedule of the HSC exams.

On the other hand intensifying its agitation, the Maharashtra State Junior College Teachers Federation has decided to launch jail-bharo andolan’ to press for their demands, mainly the implementation of revised pay-scale recommended by the fifth pay commission.

R D Thorat, divisional secretary of the Board said that so far no decision has been taken over the postponement or revision of HSC exams.

Every year the HSC practical exams are conducted in the month of February while the theory exams are held in the second week of March.

It may be noted that the joint meeting of the teachers unions and the Education Minister Sudhir Joshi held on Monday and the State Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday failed to resolve the crisis with the State government showing its reluctance to give any assurance to the striking teachers.

In a press note issued today, the Pune wing of the federation – Pune District Junior College Teachers association, said that the striking teachers will take out a morcha to the State Assembly from Girgaum Chowpatty in Mumbai on January 11 morning.

“If the morcha is stopped by the police, we will be forced to launch the jail-bharo andolan,” the union said.

Meanwhile, the Lokadhikar Samitee Mahasangh and Pune City District Congress Committee have supported the teachers demands through separate press releases. Shirish Phadtare, president of the Mahasangh has said that he would himself make efforts in this direction.
