AHMEDABAD, Feb 28: The training staff of the Indian Technical Institute (ITI) have gone on a strike from February 25 in protest against the authorities failure to meet their various demands.
They are demanding regularisation of staff pattern among other things. The Gujarat State Technical Training Programme Class-III Employee Union said that they would resort to indefinite strike and fast-unto-death from March 23 if their problems were not settled by then.
The ITI institutes are run by director general of employment and training, Ministry of Labour. The Union government recently made changes in staffing pattern of the training staff.
They have urged the State government to make those changes in the institutes in State also. They claimed that if the government effect the changes, a burden of Rs 1.25 crore would be eased. The government would then be able to absorb the surplus employees.
As part of their agitation, they hold various programmes in front of the institute.
Sammelan: Akhil Bharatiya Mahamurkha Sammelan was organised in Ahmedabad on Saturday evening at Rani Shakti Sewa Samiti by the Lions Club of Karnavati and Jain Yuvak Sangh (Sthanakvasi). On the occasion, people act as murkh’ ministers and tried to create laughter by their behaviours as murkh.
