AHMEDNAGAR, Sept 28: The EME Colony in Wadarwadi gram panchayat area is facing major road problems. And it has no functioning street lights. Since its formation, nothing has been done to develop the roads. The present elected representatives too have not proved fruitful for the colony, which is considered the most eligible colony in Bhingar. A few days back, the telecommunications department dug up a lane for laying telephone cables. The work is getting delayed putting the residents to great difficulties. The heavy rain flooded the lane. And then it was left covered with mud. Many people unaware of the dug up part fell and sustained injuries. No action has been taken yet.
The EME Colony had had one temporary road built over 15 years ago. It was a murum road made using limestone. It has never been asphalted. Recently, a few trucks of murum were unloaded there. But the quantity was much less than allotted, alleges a resident.
A road constructed a year ago from Mahatma Colony to Wadarwadi had started breaking down. It had many potholes. Some potholes were big enough to cause serious mishaps. A few days back, they were filled with sand and metal.
The recent rain has brought the sand out and the citizens face the double danger of potholes and sand, over which vehicles can slip.
The road to Alamgir was built six months back. It is being dug out for laying telephone cables. People in the area say that this shows the complete lack of coordination among the government agencies.
