KOLHAPUR, Oct 13: A fortnight after the gruesome killing of three members of Divte family, the Kolhapur police are yet to trace the whereabouts of two suspected assailants, who served at the hotel owned by the Divtes.

On September 30, Ramchandra and Anusuya Divate, were found murdered along with their four-year-old granddaughter Ankita, in the heart of the city near Dabholkar corner. The suspected assailants had also decamped with continued gold ornaments and cash Rs. 1.5 lakh. Even as the Shahupuri police were probing the rivalry angle within the family, the situation received a twist as two servants employed at the hotel owned by the Divtes were found to be absconding. Divte’s son told the police that he suspected the involvement of the hotel manager D Shriniwas and waiter Girish, in the murders. The police have found a diary belonging to Shriniwas. It has some messages written in a code language. The diary has been sent to experts for decoding it. When contacted, police inspector Narendra Waghmale, who is investigating the case, told The Indian Express that the language used while writing down the messages in the diary is a mixture of Urdu, Kannada and Tamil. “Letters and words have been formed using these threelanguages.”
