Pointing to frequent violation of ceasefire by Pakistan and continued infiltration bids from across the border, BJP chief Rajnath Singh on Thursday questioned the continuance of Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) between New Delhi and Islamabad.“Pakistan went back on its ceasefire announcement 31 times since January this year and infiltration bids have been made from across the border 41 times in the same period.“.If Pakistan and its ISI agency do not stop all these what is the point of continuing with the CBM,” he asked.If Pakistan is seriously committed in implementing CBM it should first demolish the terrorists training centres in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK), he told reporters.“They can take help of India in the task (destroying terrorists training camps in POK),” Singh, who is here to inaugurate the three-day training camp of the state BJP, said.On Indo-US nuclear deal, the BJP President said the doubts raised by his party were “coming out true” keeping in view the developments at the Nuclear Supplier Groups (NSG).“The NSG countries want India to give a guarantee that it would not conduct explosion in future besides IAEA was demanding freedom to inspect the country’s civilian and strategic nuclear installations anytime,” he said.“If India does not get a clean waiver in NSG it should backout from the deal immediately,” Singh added.The BJP chief also criticised the UPA government on the Amarnath issue and demanded that the land be returned to the shrine board.Under Article 26 and 27 of the Constitution, religious functions should be organised by religious bodies and not by the government, Singh said and demanded that the Amarnath Shrine Board be entrusted with the job of organising the yatra.Reacting to AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi touring the country to educate voters about advantages of nuclear energy, Singh said “the Congress cannot befool voters by spreading falsehood on nuclear issue.”Accusing the UPA government of “failing in all fronts”, the BJP chief criticised Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Finance minister P Chidambaram for not taking enough measures to control the spiralling inflation.“The arguments by the PM and FM that low inflation rate and high growth rate cannot go together was untrue,” he said.“The erstwhile NDA Government led by A B Vajpayee despite adverse conditions like Kargil war had achieved low inflation and high growth rate,” Singh said.He also took objection to national flags being burnt and hoisting of Pakistani flags in Kashmir and demanded the Centre to take action against them.“They should be identified and tried under sedition charge,” he said.He also condemned the killing of VHP leader Swami Laxmananda Saraswathi in Orissa’s Khandamal distict last Saturday.To a query will the BJP would make efforts to bring back its star leaders like Uma Bharti and Babu Lal Marandi to the party, the BJP chief said “they are happy running their own parties.”In reply to a question whether the BJP would give election ticket to its party workers only after ascertaining their morals, Singh said in a lighter vein “there is no instrument like a barometer or hectometre to gauge moral of a person.” Describing the BJP government in the hill state as “progressive and sensitive”, the BJP President expressed satisfaction at the performance of P M Dhumal ministry.
