Babus working under Minister of Panchayati Raj, Youth Affairs & Sports and DoNER Mani Shankar Aiyar start getting the jitters each time invitations have to be sent out to dignitaries and high-ranking officials on their minister’s behalf. The reason: Aiyar wants all the invites to be handwritten for that personal touch. With most of Aiyar’s senior mandarins failing to make the cut when it comes to good handwriting, the job inevitably ends being heaped on one man, often a junior babu, who has to use his calligraphy skills on 70-80 invites at one go—probably cursing the day he volunteered for this task.
